Diving into a Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered a variety of engaging indie games. But, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: you only need a one button to leap. In one hundred fifty levels, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a shop to buy skins for your dung hero.

Time your actions carefully, since one error means starting over. Jump using air pockets to hurl your character higher, navigate fragile platforms, and activate buttons to unlock new areas. Gather coins and use them on tougher game content in which gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the game shows off eye-catching stages and catchy music score. Its minimalist art featuring moving geometric shapes may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's tough to name other games where you are a dung character, video games have long included fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as plant food. Naturally, such content shows up extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already received significant awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is ready now on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to debut on Steam this November.
