Shortly afterward, Racing Bulls driver Lawson spoke to his pit wall engineer saying: "You've got to be joking? Did you witness that? I could have... killed them"
"I honestly couldn't believe what I was witnessing"
"I rejoined with a brand new hard tyres, and then I got to Turn One and unexpectedly appeared two guys dashing across the track"
"I nearly hit one of them, truthfully, it was incredibly risky"
Safety Concerns Raised
"Evidently there's been a communication breakdown somehow but This is the first time I've faced that before, and I haven't previously witnessed that in the past. It's pretty unacceptable"
"We cannot comprehend how on a live track marshals can be permitted to just run across the track in that manner. I don't understand the reason, I'm sure we'll get some sort of explanation, but this absolutely cannot recur"
Official Investigation Underway
Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, is actively examining the circumstances
"After an occurrence at turn one, the race directors was notified that fragments were located on the track at the critical section of that bend" declared the FIA
"In the third rotation, marshals were alerted and put on alert to go onto the racing surface and recover the debris once the entire field had cleared the area"
"Immediately when it was understood that Lawson had entered the pits, the directives to deploy officials were canceled and a double yellow flag was shown in that area"
"The examination is ongoing what happened after that point"
